The Ruger Single Shot Adapter features a "sled design" that allows you to insert cartridges directly from the open bolt - no need to remove the adapter to load a cartridge, which makes it different than Ruger's own BX-1 adapter . You can use it to shoot non-standard rounds, like "22 shorts". PLEASE NOTE that when using the single shot adapter in the 10/22 semi-automatic rifle, you must manually slide and lock the bolt back, insert the .22 cartridge, then manually unlock the bolt, to chamber the round. Ruger and others have documented this procedure in online videos. To make this easier, many folks modify their 10/22 with an "automatic bolt release" (google search "10/22 automatic bolt release"). Ple ase ensure you are comfortable with the manual operation of the bolt on 10/22 rifles, before you order the Single Shot Adapter for the 10/22. Also available is the NEW UNIVERSAL C HAMBER SAFETY FLAG V3 in optimized height and fits all Ruger Rifles. The Safety Flag V3 is custom designed so that it positively latches into position and blocks the closing of the bolt . It features an extended bottom to improve visibility of the flag. Serious and Professional shooters will prefer the unique safety flag design because it avoids introducing stray grit into a hot barrel . Plus it won't fall out as the firearm is handled, so it can be used at the range and for firearm storage and transport. This flag works in all rifles - Right and Left Handed as well. Also note in the pictures - the unique embedded Arrowhead on the right side, which points to the muzzle, so you can always insert the adapter correctly the first time.
